Private Tours in Bergamo

Our friends Nicoleta and Fabio, or one of their expert collaborators, await you in Bergamo! This Lombard city is comprised of an old walled center, known as Città Alta, and a modern expansion known as Città Bassa in the plains below. The upper town is encircled by ancient Venetian defensive systems that are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Step back in time in this wonderful city.

You can also add on a cooking class with Nicoleta and Fabio!

You have a few options for your private tour, depending on what your area of interests are:

  • 3-hour Tour of Monumental Città Alta: From Piazza Mercato delle Scarpe scroll through the medieval streets that have kept their ancient charm. Head to the Rocca Castle, once a defensive structure but now a perfectly panoramic spot. Then head to Piazza Vecchia, the heart of the upper town, with its civic tower. The Piazza Duomo will reveal its majesty as you visit the unique Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore with its Romanesque art, the Cathedral, the Baptistry, and the Colleoni Chapel. Stroll along the Corsarola with its old and modern shops, cafes, and restaurants, and end at the Cittadella and Colle Aperto.
  • 3-hour Tour of Modern Città Bassa: Start at the train station and make your way along the street laid out in the mid-19th century, which marks the transition to the modern age. Arrive in Porta Nuova with its views of the skyline of Città Alta. Follow the Sentierone, the favorite promenade of the locals, see the Torre dei Caduti monument dedicated to the Italian partisans (resistance fighters) in WWII, and the ancient cloister of Santa Marta. Finish with a tour through the shops, boutiques, and restaurants.
  • 3-hour Tour of Crespi Village: Visit the unique World Heritage site near Bergamo that is an example of the 19th-century “company” towns of the industrial area.
  • 3-hour Tour of Romanesque Bergamo: Visit the churches of Almenno S. Bartolomeo and Almenno S Salvatore, situated at the entrance to the Imagna Valley, as well as San Tomé, the church of San Giorgio, and the Madonna del Castello,
  • 3-hour Walking Tour along the Venetian Walls: Start at Colle Aperto and follow the famed Venetian town walls that encircle the Città Alta. It was not only a defensive enclosure, but also a fortification system complete with underground areas.
