Marseille – Lesson with Chef Gilles

Due to COVID 19 Gilles is currently only offering private lessons.

Cook in the vibrant city of Marseille with Chef Gilles, a Provence native who learned to cook from his mother and grandmothers, and who after spending several years in California decided to return to his homeland to share the food and culture of Provence! Your day will start at 9:30AM in the heart of Marseille. Walk together to the Old Port fish market, where you will see the fishermen selling their day’s catch and will have a chance to help select ingredients for the day. Next, head to another market to select fresh vegetables for your class. After the market, stop at Gilles’ favorite wine shop to select wine for the meal, and then walk back to his apartment, which boasts a cozy cooking atelier under a covered patio. Gilles will teach you the basic techniques you need to make a full French meal. Lunch will follow on the patio. After the meal, Gilles will walk you back to the Old Port around 3:00PM.

Chef Gilles was fantastic and we had a fabulous day shopping, cooking, and eating local foods. What a treat! Highly recommended. Rose P., Tara L., and Chris L, TX

Chef Gilles has true passion about cooking. He explained the procedures to us clearly and made the cooking easy. On the whole it was a wonderful cooking experience and especially we could have lunch at a local apartment in Marseille. [Regarding The International Kitchen staff:] The staff were courteous and efficient as they replied my inquiry promptly. If possible, recipe should be sent to us after the class. Yin C. and Kwok L., Hong Kong
