Family Friendly Cooking Tours

Can you take a culinary tour with your kids? Absolutely!  Food tours and cooking vacations with The International Kitchen make great family vacations for a lot of reasons.

First, food brings families together. Is family mealtime a staple in your house? What could be better than experiencing a family meal together during an exploration of new cultures and cuisines on a cooking vacation in Italy, a food tour in Portugal, cooking classes in Mexico, to name but a few? We have found that some children are actually more adventurous eaters while on a culinary vacation, where they know they have to try different things. Plus, kids absorb a lot of their parents’ interest, so if you believe food is one of the most important parts of your cooking vacation, it might be important to your kids as well.

Of course, not every food tour we offer makes a perfect family vacation, but we’ll help you choose a culinary tour that’s right for your family. Some of our trips are better for younger children, some are better for families with children that are grown. Some of our cooking vacations and food and wine tours might not appropriate for children at all. If you’re thinking of traveling with your family on one of our fabulous culinary tours, give us a call and would be happy to make recommendations, whether this means a beach cooking vacation in Greece, a culinary tour of Barcelona, a family-friendly estate in Tuscany, or cooking in the French Alps.

Family Getaways: Cooking Vacations and Food Tours

Sometimes when planning a family culinary tour for our travelers, we find that not everyone wants to learn to cook. Some members of your family might want to experience the food tours and tastings, but not the actual hands-on cooking classes, and that’s just fine. We offer many culinary family vacations that offer a discount for “non-cooking companions,” and we can always design custom tours for your family that include less – or even no – cooking. Personally, we encourage people to try the cooking lessons, even children, as we have found people enjoy it much more than they thought they would. But if some of your family does not want to cook, that’s not a problem, and we can even create a foodie tour for you and your family that doesn’t include any cooking at all.

Our trips are full of fun excursions and most include some free time for relaxing or exploring, which most of our families enjoy. Whether your family is interested in spending time together on a beach vacation, exploring old castles, staying on a local farm, relaxing by the pool, or fishing, biking, or hiking, we have plenty of activities to keep the whole family happy. And one last note on our family culinary vacations: they make great multi-generational trips as well. We’ve had families of grandparents, parents, and children travel together, and even extended family like aunts and uncles. A culinary vacation is also a great way to have a family reunion, and often we can plan a trip where you have exclusive use of a villa, small hotel, guest house, or B&B.

Check out some of our culinary family vacation packages below.

Cook in the Heart of Chianti
