Enjoy an unforgettable day in Barcelona with the wonderful Chef Alicia,
a native of Catalonia, at her recently rennovated apartment in the
heart of Barcelona. Catalan cuisine still
reflects the multi-cultural history of the region, incorporating
influences from the entire Mediterranean basin; your lesson
will teach teach you the basic
techniques used in Catalan cooking, as well as some of it's important
dishes.
Alicia insists on using the freshest ingredients, which you will gather with her
at the incomparable Boqueria market in the center of Barcelona.
You will meet around 10 AM for the visit of the market, followed by your
hands-on cooking lessons, which will last around two and a half hours.
During a standard lesson you will learn to prepare
three dishes and a dessert, generally traditional recipes that Alicia's
family has been making for generations, as well as new inventions of her
own.
A sample menu might be: Mejillones al Romero, Suquet de
Peix, Fricando, and Crema Catalana. Lunch will follow based on your efforts and accompanied by
premier wines from the Priorat/Monsant region, coffee, Brandy, and Cava, the Catalan
sparkling wine.
If you prefer, you can request to concentrate exclusively on
paellas or tapas during your cooking class. Or, you may sign up for 3 classes and do it all!
