Cooking classes were small and well taught. Didn't feel rushed at all during the vacation; planned events were spaced out nicely. Hotel check-in and adding additional days went very smoothly.

Trip Details

Enjoy a hands-on cooking class with a local chef in their home. You will start with a visit to the market to select ingredients, then create a wonderful meal together. You will also enjoy a dessert class featuring wonderful French desserts or pastries.

Itinerary

Order of activities subject to change.

Day One

  • Arrival on your own and check in to the your lovely room.
  • Time at leisure to explore the city.
  • Tonight’s dinner on your own, with recommendations from the hotel.
  • Overnight.

Day Two

  • Breakfast, followed by day at leisure with lunch on your own.
  • In the late afternoon (approximately 3:00 PM) meet with the chef for your dessert class. The three-hour class includes two or three specialties cooked and tasted with coffee and tea. (Depending on availability, a bakery class may be substituted for solo travelers).
  • Dinner tonight will be on your own.
  • Overnight.

Day Three

  • After breakfast at the hotel, you have the option of our Foodie’s Walking tour in the morning or our Chocolaterie, Patisserie and Boulangerie tour in the afternoon.
  • OPTION 1: (Available Tuesday to Sunday) At 9:00 a.m., meet for your three-hour walking “Foodie’s Walking Tour.” On this tour you will walk through the medieval part of the Latin Quarter, a neighborhood famous for the high quality and large choice of food produce. It meanders through the market, as well as a cheese dairy, several bakers, and a confectioner. The tour ends at a regional specialty shop and focuses on family cuisine with stops for tastings.
  • Dinner on your own and overnight.
  • OPTION 2: (Available Monday to Saturday) In the afternoon, meet for your guided three-hour tour of chocolate and pastries! On this tour in St. Germain des Prés, you will sample some of the finest chocolates, pastries, and bread from top suppliers of Paris. Your knowledgeable guide will take you to famed shops of Paris where you will discuss the creation and significance of these celebrated treats.
  • Dinner on your own and overnight.

Day Four

  • Breakfast followed by your second cooking class.
  • Your day will begin in the morning when you join the chef for a shopping excursion at an outdoor market. After the market visit, a hands-on cooking class of a traditional French meal.
  • After the class enjoy lunch based on your efforts accompanied by wine.
  • Afternoon and dinner on you own.
  • Overnight.

Day Five

  • Breakfast followed by day at leisure. We would be happy to arrange additional services, classes, or tours for you.

Day Six

  • Breakfast followed by day at leisure.

Day Seven

  • Breakfast followed by day at leisure.

Day Eight

  • Breakfast followed by day at leisure.

Day Nine

  • Breakfast followed by check out.

Accommodation Information

Accommodations for your cooking vacation will be at the lovely 4* Hotel Plaza Elysees (or similar). Located near the Arc de Triomphe, this bright, warm hotel has been recently renovated. The rooms offer WiFi, flat screen TVs, desks, air conditioning,, minibars, and coffeemakers, as well as elegantly appointed bathrooms. There is a restaurant, bar, and laundry facilities. (If unavailable a comparable hotel will be proposed.)
