Amalfi – Lesson with Giovanna and Ramona in a Lemon Grove
Your day begins by meeting your guide Ramona in Amalfi’s central square in front of the cathedral for a brief tour. For those doing the lemon tour and cooking class, start your day with a 10-minute walk or short ride in an electric car to the Valley of the Mills, where you’ll meet the Aceto family and visit their lovely lemon groves and vegetable garden, where you can pick produce for your class if in season. Next, experience a guided visit of the family’s charming Arts and Trades Museum, which shows the history of different occupations through ancient types of machinery. Then head to the kitchen with Giovanna, who is a very good home chef and who loves to mix her family’s culinary traditions with the typical elements of the Mediterranean diet. Not only will Giovanna teach you the basics of the local cuisine, but you’ll make a first course, second course, side dish, and dessert, which you’ll enjoy at the conclusion of your class. End your visit with a stop at a limoncello factory for a tasting.
Note that the kitchen is in a covered outdoor area, so bring a sweater for cooler days, and that there is an uphill walk to the class, so the experience is not suitable for those with mobility problems.
