Five-Star Sorrento & Amalfi Coast Food Tour
Experience the best of southern Italy on a Five-Star Sorrento & Amalfi Coast food tour, based in one of Italy’s most scenic coastal towns. This journey blends delicious food, hands-on cooking classes, and unforgettable sights along one of the world’s most iconic coastlines.
Sunny southern Italy is a top destination for a culinary vacation, and the Amalfi Coast is its crown jewel. Stretching along dramatic cliffs between mountains and sea, the region is known for its beautiful towns, breathtaking views, and vibrant food culture. On our Sorrento food tours, you’ll enjoy authentic cooking classes, regional wine tastings, and plenty of time to savor the local lifestyle.
Often called il Mezzogiorno, southern Italy offers incredible depth for food lovers. This Amalfi Coast food tour focuses on the Sorrentine Peninsula and classic destinations such as Amalfi, Ravello, Positano, and the isle of Capri. Whether your interests lean toward exploring historic centers, shopping for local ceramics and leather goods, or relaxing with a glass of wine overlooking the Mediterranean, this tour strikes the perfect balance between activity and leisure.
Sorrento itself is a coastal gem, perched above the sea with a lively main square, charming streets, and an excellent restaurant scene ranging from family-run trattorie to Michelin-starred dining. It’s a place full of warmth, energy, and authentic Sorrentine character.
The cuisine you’ll enjoy reflects the soul of southern Italy: handmade pasta, fresh seafood, creamy mozzarella, sun-ripened produce, and the region’s famous lemons, featured in desserts and the beloved limoncello liqueur. Wine tastings introduce fruity white wines and fuller reds, thoughtfully paired with the dishes you prepare during your Amalfi Coast cooking classes.
Beyond food, the tour includes cultural exploration. Cruise by traditional gozzo boat to Capri, visit Amalfi Coast towns like Positano and Ravello, and travel toward Naples to explore the ancient ruins of Pompeii, frozen in time by Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
Whether you’re new to Italy or returning to a favorite destination, this Splendid Sorrento Amalfi Coast food tour offers a rich, engaging journey through food, wine, culture, and unforgettable scenery.

Day Six – Friday

- After breakfast, depart by private Gozzo for the beautiful island of Capri for a full-day trip to paradise. A Gozzo is a traditional Sorrentine fishing boat. This very special day will include 3 hours on board the gozzo and 3 hours on the island to explore on your own. (Please note that Capri has recently instituted a tax of €100 per person to disembark at Marina Grande, payable on the spot to the local authorities. If you would like to avoid this fee, you can ask to be dropped at Marina Piccolo. If the Capri excursion is unavailable due to had weather, an alternate excursion will be proposed.)
- Inhabited in prehistoric times, Capri was once a Greek colony and then a resort of emperors in the early years of the Roman Empire. The Emperor Augustus resided here, and Tiberius built several villas, one of which, the Villa Iovis, which is located on the island’s northeastern tip overlooking Naples, has been excavated. During the 10th century the population, fearing pirate raids, moved from seaside settlements to the present towns, Capri (east) and Anacapri (west), high above the shore.
- In the Middle Ages, Capri belonged to the Abbey of Montecassino and to the republic of Amalfi before becoming part of the Kingdom of Naples. There are ruins of two medieval castles, the Castello di Barbarossa and the Castiglione, and the oldest church (from the 10th and 11th centuries) is that of St. Costanzo, the island’s patron saint. The Villa San Michele, built by the Swedish writer Axel Munthe, is on the site of a Tiberian villa. You will have time to explore the island on your own before the boat ride back.
