About the location: the Veneto is a land of romance and beauty, and no where is that more evident than during this 5-star experience. Long the territory of the landed gentry, the Veneto is still dotted with gorgeous old estates, including the Villa Cordevigo, which is now a 5* luxury hotel and part of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux group. From the fertile plains of the Po River to the charming towns of Verona and Borghetto, the Veneto offers breathtaking views at every turn. And the gastronomy is just as perfect! This is one of Italy's premier wine-producing regions, and its cuisine is in some ways traditional of Northern Italian cuisine, but influenced by the nearby Adriatic, by the Dolomite mountains, and by the river valley.

About the accommodations: The accommodations for the week will be at the stunning 5* Villa Cordevigo. You enter the property through a cypress-lined drive that leads to the gorgeous 18th-century villa, which was historically the residence of noble families of the area. Each family added to the beauty—frescoes, art works, wine cellar, gardens—and the result is a magical place full of old-world beauty, new-world comfort, and charm. Chef at Villa Cordevigo About the cooking lessons: Your week will include two wonderful cooking classes in two very different environments. The first will be at the villa's Michelin-star Ristorante Oselata with its chef Giuseppe D'Aquino (or one of his sous chefs). The second will be at the home of "Nonna" Alda. In both you will concentrate on preparing a meal based on local regional specialties.

Day 1

  • Arrival at the stunning 5* Villa that will be your home for the week. Free time to enjoy the enchanting grounds or the luxurious spa.
  • This evening the Villa’s resident tour manager Paolo will welcome you with an aperitivo and a short history of the villa and this part of the region.
  • Dinner this evening at the Villa’s casual Bistro restaurant (May to September), or at another local restaurant in other months.

Day 2

  • Breakfast, then meet chef Giuseppe at the Michelin-starred restaurant of the Villa for your first cooking class, which will be part demonstration and part hands-on. You might learn some of the local stuffed pastas, or other regional dishes. Lunch will be based on what you have prepared.
  • This afternoon meet Paolo once again for a visit of the villa’s vineyards. You can either walk or bike around the vineyard and learn the secrets of cultivation. Hear about the affect of the seasons on the vine’s production, then see the wine-making process in the cellars. Finally, enjoy a tasting in the tasting room.
  • Dinner tonight in a typical local restaurant, transfers included (please note there may be a surcharge if you plan to return after 10pm).

Day 3

  • Breakfast and a free day at your disposal. You might want to explore the villa’s grounds, spend a day at the spa, or arrange additional excursions to local areas of interest.
  • Dinner this evening is at the Michelin-star restaurant of the Villa, the Ristorante Oseleta.

Day 4

  • After breakfast, depart for the romantic city of Verona, where you will enjoy a tour of the main sites of the city, including a stop at Romeo and Juliet’s balcony!
  • Pizza lunch in Verona.
  • After lunch head to the well-known Zymé winery, where they produce Valpolicella wine, for a tour and tasting.
  • Return to the villa and dinner on your own. (There are a number of wonderful restaurants within a short drive of the hotel, and transfers can be arranged by the front desk.)

Day 5

  • Breakfast and a free day at your disposal to enjoy the villa, its grounds, and the spa.
  • Dinner on your own.

Day 6

  • Breakfast, then depart for a very special and authentic experience at the home of “Nonna Alda,” where you will enjoy a cooking lesson in a private home. The 2 hour cooking session will focus on two courses plus a dessert.
  • Lunch will be based on your efforts at Nonna Alda’s home.
  • After lunch, head to Valeggio, the home of “tortellini” pasta, and Borghetto, named one of Italy’s 100 most beautiful village.
  • Back at the villa, dinner tonight will be at the Michelin-star Ristorante Oseleta.

Day 7

  • Breakfast and departure.
