Sunlight dances on the sea / Tender thoughts occur to me... so begins the song “Come Back to Sorrento,” made famous by Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. And that is what Sorrento is, the grace of sunlight dancing on the sea, the special light that permeates the Amalfi Coast, the scent of lemons, ceramic tiles under one’s feet, colorful dishes on one’s table. This is your home during a week-long exploration of Italy’s Amalfi Coast, a place where the elegance and sophistication of celebrity hotels and restaurants mix with local women chattering in dialect as they do the wash, and old men playing cards at sidewalk cafes. From Sorrento’s charming streets to the Amalfi Coast towns of Positano, Ravello, and Amalfi, from the waters of Capri to the slopes of Mount Vesuvius, your Sorrento cooking vacation will be a week to remember!
Sorrento Cooking Vacation Trip Highlights
Highlights of your amazing week-long culinary vacation in Italy include 4 fun, hands-on cooking classes featuring authentic southern Italian recipes such as gnocchi alla Sorrentina, involtini di melanzana, Neapolitan-style pizza and more. Your stay will be in the beautiful and bustling town of Sorrento, with visits of Capri and the amazing towns of the Amalfi Coast.
Itinerary

Day One
Order of activities subject to change.
- Group transfer from the Naples airport or train station.
- Arrival at your hotel and check in, with time to relax.
- This evening, head to Chef Carmen’s cooking school, where you will enjoy dinner.
- Overnight.
Day Two
- Breakfast, and 8:30 am transfer to a local farm where they have been producing amazing olive and mozzarella for years. Learn about the making of these products, as well as ‘Limoncello,’ the tasty lemon liqueur.
- A pizza class with lunch will follow.
- Free time to relax back at the hotel.
- Meet Chef Carmen at her cooking school at 3:00 pm for your first hands-on cooking class, followed by dinner.
- Overnight.
Day Three
- Breakfast, and an early pickup at 8:00 am. Today you are off to the Amalfi Coast towns: Ravello, Amalfi, and Positano await you! Lunch on your own while you are out.
- Transfer back to the hotel with time to rest.
- This evening, at 3:00 pm, meet Chef Carmen for your next cooking lesson, dinner to follow.
- Overnight.
Day Four
- Breakfast.
- Today, a full-day excursion to Capri (weather permitting). You will be on your own to explore the island, its two charming towns, its many shops and sites, and its beautiful coast and grottos.
- Lunch on your own in Capri.
- Transfer back to your hotel for some time to relax.
- This evening, dinner at a local Michelin-star restaurant, Don Geppi’s in Sant’Agnello di Sorrento.
- Overnight.
Day Five
- Breakfast.
- Depart for Pompeii, where you will have 2 hours to visit the ruins on your own. (If you would like to schedule a licensed guide, please inquire.)
- Next, visit a local winery on the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius. Its wines are characterized by the volcanic soil in which the grapes grow. Wine tasting and lunch at the winery.
- Return to the hotel, with time to relax.
- Dinner tonight will be at a traditional local restaurant.
- Overnight.
Day Six
- Breakfast, then make your way to Chef Carmen’s for your last cooking class at 9:00 am, lunch to follow based on your efforts.
- This afternoon, enjoy free time to explore Sorrento, shop, or perhaps arrange a visit to one of the nearby towns or islands.
- Dinner on your own.
- Overnight.
Day Seven
- Breakfast, and group transfer to the Naples airport or train station.
