A Taste of Traverse City and Mission Peninsula
There are a lot of reasons to consider Traverse City in northern Michigan as a destination worthy of a travel bucket list. The town of less than 15,000 boasts a plethora of family-run and locally-owned restaurants, as well as the home to the Cherry Republic (where yes, you can get everything cherry!), a shop focused solely on oil and vinegar, and a lovely shop/cafe that sells all sorts of food from local producers. During the warmer months, get a taste of Traverse at their fixed food truck spot, The Little Fleet.
Head just north of Traverse City, and you’ll also start to feel like you’re in Burgundy, France — which the region actually shares the same latitude with. Vineyards sprawl across Mission Peninsula, and the drive over the hilly roads is worth a trip of its own. It’s here on the peninsula that you’ll enjoy your long weekend getaway.
