Overview

Argentina Wine Tour & Cooking Vacation

Join us for our Mendoza wine tours and culinary vacations and discover why this part of Argentina is known as a great foodie destination. Around the world, Argentina is known for its grilled beef and steakhouses, a tradition that began in the 19th century when ranchers in the Pampas region roasted meat on a spit and then sliced it off in chunks. But the gastronomy you will discover on our Mendoza wine tours has also been influenced for decades by Mediterranean cuisine — including Italian, French, and Spanish — making it a great destination for any foodie looking for an authentic cooking vacation and foodie tour. From their chimichurri sauces, raviolis, and empanadas to their traditional yerba mate tea, meals here are social events and an important part of daily life, and you will explore them during your hands-on cooking classes and Mendoza wine tours.

Dining outside during a wine tour.Experience this love of food in the thriving metropolis of Mendoza, which is situated at the foothills of the Andes mountains. In addition to discovering the cuisine of the city, you will explore Mendoza’s most popular plazas and statues. Venture into the Mendoza province on our Mendoza wine tours to discover the local wine, particularly Malbec, which you will taste plenty of on our Mendoza wine tours. In the Maipu region, just a few miles from the city, visit some of the country’s oldest vineyards and bodegas on our Mendoza wine tours with wine tastings. The province is also populated with a number of charming mountain towns, which you can explore during a unique high mountain tour that features stunning natural attractions, such as a natural bridge formed by the Las Cuevas river.

A closeup of grapes growing on a winery, visited during a wine tasting tour with The International Kitchen. The wine-producing grapes of Argentina were originally brought to South America by Spanish colonizers, and wine production has been practiced there ever since. Argentina’s climate, with its high altitude and optimal low humidity, is particularly good for growing wine grapes, as it inhibits the growth of molds and funghi that often plague grape varieties. And in the last couple decades a real emphasis on improving the quality of these wines has culminated in some top-rated vineyards. On our Mendoza wine tours you will learn about the most popular variety in Argentina – Malbec – but also about other reds and even whites. And because Argentina is in the southern hemisphere, the growing season is October to February, which means you can escape on a winter vacation to Argentina and enjoy a wine-harvest tour at the same time!

So whether you are looking to make authentic Argentinian-Italian cuisine, taste the famous steaks, gorge yourself on empanadas, or sample the wines on our Mendoza wine tours, our Wine and Cuisine of Mendoza culinary tours are just the thing for you!
