Overview

Buenos Aires – Lesson with Grace and Liliana

Discover the traditional cuisine of Bueons Aires with a trip to the trendy quarter of Palermo, located 10 minutes northeast of downtown and a must-see on any Buenos Aires itinerary. Your day begins when Liliana, an official tour guide, picks you up from your centrally-located hotel. On your way to her private home in Palermo, stop at a butcher shop to learn about the various cuts of meats. Once in the kitchen, Grace — a native of Paraguay who moved to Buenos Aires 30 years ago — will teach you how to make traditional Argentinian cuisine.

While Grace’s English is limited, Liliana will translate as you make meat and corn (humita) empanadas and Argentinian sauces, such as a Chimichurri sauce and salsa criolla. You’ll also learn different ways of grilling meat as Liliana regales you with stories about Argentinan traditions. Weather permitting, lunch will be served out on the patio along with local wines, including Malbec and Torrontes. The national drink, mate tea — made from the yerba plant, will also be offered. At the conclusion of the class, the return transfer is on your own, but Grace will be happy to call you a taxi.
