October 9, 2006 – (Chicago, IL)
Karen Herbst, the President of The International Kitchen, was a keynote speaker at The International Culinary Tourism Association’s Scandinavian Culinary Tourism Symposium last month, in Helsingborg, Sweden.
As the founder of the premier culinary tour operator offering vacations and one-day cooking classes in Italy, France and Spain, Karen Herbst was invited to speak to food and tourism professionals from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. Mrs. Herbst spoke about creating the company in 1994 when she merged her passions for cooking and travel in Europe. In the past 12 years the company has grown from a small home business to a successful web- based organization offering 70-plus culinary vacations to clients not only in North American, but throughout the world.
Mrs. Herbst gave the Scandinavian professionals insight into some of her past experiences and successes in culinary tourism. “It’s wonderful to be able to share my knowledge of the industry with professionals around the world. Continued interest in culinary travel benefits us all!”
Karen Herbst is an innovator in the field of culinary tourism and continues to earn accolades for her contributions to the industry. Herbst believes in visiting every program she sells so that she can recommend any of the products first-hand. Since she saw an interest in culinary travel 12 years ago there has been a continued increase in other companies offering similar products; “I have many imitators but no competitors”.
The International Kitchen, the world’s foremost culinary tour operator, has been offering authentic cooking school vacations in Italy, France and Spain since 1994.
