Many places in Italy have a certain magic to them. Yet not all of them can make the claims that a quaint rustic treehouse in the heart of the Abruzzo countryside can. Situated up in an almond tree and simply furnished only with a bed and a wardrobe, the treehouse at our Authentic Abruzzo Cooking vacation offers stunning views of the surrounding national park. And according to superstition, it’s where more than a few couples have conceived.

Treehouse accommodations during our Abruzzo cooking vacationIs it simply a coincidence? Perhaps. But the superstition has grown over the years, with more and more guests putting it to the test. Repeatedly, the agriturismo owner Marino has heard from past guests — from Naples, Rome, Modena, and elsewhere — about their luck in conceiving, even when they’ve had difficulty in the past. In fact, Marino has received calls — and thanks — from at least seven couples! And those are just the people he’s heard from!

Maybe it’s the one-with-nature romantic setting, with the wind whispering through the branches just outside the window. Maybe it’s how serene and relaxing the entire property is, located as it is in a national park. Or perhaps it really is just magic.

Of course, the agriturismo at this Abruzzo cooking vacation has other accommodations as well — including one room with a heart window — and all are simple but practical, so if you prefer to avoid the almond tree, there are other ground-level rooms to stay in! But if you’re traveling with your partner and ready to put it to the test for yourself? Make sure to request the house in the almond tree, which as Marino says, “continues to bear good fruit!”
