Super Spring Roundup
We had a really wonderful Spring travel season at TIK and we thought we’d give a spring recap to celebrate it! We had more April and May travelers doing our cooking vacations than ever before, and why not? Spring is a great time for culinary travel, with fresh produce arriving at the markets and growing on the farms for our farm to table experiences.
We have a couple of our newest itineraries take off this spring, including our Living the Real Tuscan Dream cooking vacation in Chianti. We had 2 couples celebrating their 50th wedding anniversaries: what a special way to celebrate! They loved their trip (they actually did two cooking vacations in Tuscany, pairing it with our Tuscany’s Left Bank: Bolgheri and Supertuscans). You can read their comments at the links above.
Another new itinerary that got off to a great start is Undiscovered Scotland. We had clients visiting new baby lambs, warming up with whiskey on a cool day, and cooking to their hearts’ delight.
We also had many travelers visiting Portugal, which is one of my favorite destinations. I almost went back this year for our family vacation – that is how much I loved it! It has the perfect mix of amazingly flavorful but simple cuisine, tasty (and affordable) wines, beautiful landscapes, and a really breathtaking cultural heritage. I can’t believe more people don’t travel to Portugal on our cooking vacations, although this spring it certainly was popular.
Another favorite destination is the Puglia region of Italy, and it also saw many TIK cooking enthusiasts exploring our culinary vacations there. Because of its southern location, Puglia is already warm and sunny in springtime, and the produce is to die for – not to mention the fresh cheeses, cured meats, amazing seafood, and pastas.
