Spoleto is one of my favorite towns in Italy, and we’re offering both our best price of the season AND a special food & opera week for September! This special week will combine our exceptional 6-night cooking vacation in Umbria with an added incentive: box seats for a performance of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale!

The Teatro Lirico Sperimentale has been helping young singers make their debuts for over 70 years. The famed Opera festival runs each year in Spoleto, a town known for its music festivals. The singers must win a competition to be able to participate, and they usually make their professional debut there. There have been many famous singers and musicians who have participated in the festival over the years.

Theater seats during a food & culture tourThis year you have 2 chances to attend this amazing experience:

The week of September 9-15, 2018, you can see Domenico Sarro’s “La Furba e lo Sciocco” at the 1715 Petite Opera House Caio Melisso.

The week of September 23-29, 2018, you can see Giuseppe Verdi’s “La Traviata” at the spectacular Teatro Nuovo.

Your host, artist Richard di San Marzano, is friends with the president of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale. You can meet her, and she will offer you a private box for the performance.

The week-long culinary tour of course includes all of the usual fabulous activities that you would expect of a cooking vacation with TIK:

  • Four cooking classes with four different chefs – from the Michelin-starred Chef Eros to a true mountain cook who prepares meals based on the products found on her land.

  • Walking tour of Spoleto, including La Rocca fortress and its viaduct
  • Visits of the Valnerina Region, Bevagna, and Montefalco
