It’s All About the Magic

Planning a last-minute trip for this summer? We’ve still got a few summer weeks available (July 9-16 and July 23-29) as well as fall dates at our favorite itinerary in the Campagna region, home to the Amalfi Coast, Mediterranean Cooking Experience! This is an itinerary we’ve been offering for decades and is one of our favorites for a lot of reasons.

View of the Gulf of Naples When we talk to people about this fabulous itinerary we often use the word “magical,” and when I have to pinpoint why, it’s quite frankly very easy. The views are beautiful, looking out from a hillside onto two different coasts, with the Gulf of Sorrento and Capri to one side, and the Gulf of Naples with Vesuvius looming in the distance to the other. But that’s not what makes it magical.

It’s also got wonderful food, prepared by two talented chefs, and a fabulous teaching kitchen where they lead you in the preparation of amazing southern Italian specialties such as Sorrento-style gnocchi, Neapolitan-style artichokes, stuffed calamari, and more. But that’s not what makes it magical either.

Sorrento-Style Gnocchi The excursions are amazing: from the Amalfi Coast towns like Amalfi and Ravello, perched on the cliffside overlooking the sea, to the visit to a local family farm for a class on olive oil, cheese making, and limoncello; from the enchanting isle of Capri to a winery visit on the slopes of Vesuvius, each day has wonders to explore. (See the full itinerary here.)

But that is not what makes it magical either!

TIK Travelers Quite simply, it’s the hospitality. I’m not talking simply good customer service and attention to detail – I am talking about true Italian hospitality where your needs are anticipated and your requests honored with a smile. Where Salvatore, the villa owner, will bus your plate if it’s been sitting too long, or where the chef will do an impromptu class on “fiori di zucca” because you mentioned you like them.

Visiting with the chef of our Mediterranean Cooking Experience in Italy. The dictionary defines hospitality as “the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers.” And our Mediterranean Cooking Experience embodies that perfectly.
