Map of Location

The Costa del Sol is a unique and cosmopolitan world, with sun and beaches on the shores of the Mediterranean, first class golf courses on the Costa del Golf and a rich culture. The Costa del Sol is a land of contrasts, from cities full of life with a unique historical past and grand architecture, to sleepy little villages and crumbling cortijos where goats graze and campesinos toil in the fields. The magnificent Sierra Nevada and other snow capped mountains tower over verdant valleys, rivers tumble through gorges and snake across the landscape creating fertile plains and there are also sierras that are barren, but this is an extraordinary climate with 321 days of sunshine in a year. Gastronomic activities will bring you closer to a world of Andalucian flavors, which are healthily Mediterranean and innovatively creative. Your accommodations for your week-long cooking vacation will be in the small, rustic, yet elegant Hotel Hacienda La Herriza. The hotel offers a warm welcome, refined service, and a true Andalucian feel. It could be described as "The true feeling of being far away, yet you are at home away from home."

About the lessons: Discover the secrets of Mediterranean cuisine with Chef Sergio who will teach you how to prepare a host of versatile dishes with confidence. You will gain a greater understanding of how to select and use basic ingredients such as olive oil and spices — skills which you will be able to use at home to impress friends and family! Sergio beleives that there is no limit to passion and this is something that he loves to share during your culinary vacation: “Cooking is the pleasure of a satisfying meal in good company.” In cooking we are only an extension of other people. It is a rather long process made up of exposure to good food and talented cooks and many of us have been influenced by someone we admire. Sergio's mother was his first mentor: her food was simple, wonderfully honest, tasty and generous and it is exactly on this basis that his cooking lessons are based.
