About the location: Venice, of course, hardly needs an introduction. And this one-of-a-kind city is the location for the Hotel Gritti Palace, a one-of-a-kind, world class hotel that has been host to famous people for decades. Situated on the Grand Canal, with an incomparable view of the water, the hotel was once the Renaissance residence of the Venetian doge Andrea Gritti. It is one of the world’s most celebrated hotels – famous for excellent service, luxurious guestrooms and public rooms, and a stunning dining terrace overlooking the Canal Grande. The hotel is a splendid little Palazzo that preserves within its walls stories of illustrious visitors such as the British Royal family, the Duke of Windsor, Princes of Monaco and numerous Hollywood stars. Named to the Conde Nast Traveler’s 2002 Gold list and Conde Nast Traveler’s 2001 Readers Choice Awards List, this special haven is, as they say, “to die for!”
About the cooking lessons: The special cooking demonstration school is located in the hotel and is run by the Club Del Doge Executive Chef, Daniele Turco. Chef Turco leads the themed cluinary lessons and is accompanied by the the expertise of visiting celebrity Chefs. Your Venetian experience is enhanced with excursions to the Rialto Markets, indigenous dining in authentic local osterias, food shopping and food history lessons with Program Director, Rolando Beramendi, mask-making and masquerade dinners… and time for personal forays into the Venetian calli, campi and local legends.
The menu of the day is developed in the presence of the participants and a tasting at lunchtime follows. The wines chosen for the dishes are introduced by a sommelier. At the end of each single course, you will receive a certificate of participation.
