About the Region: A city in northern Tuscany on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea, Viareggio is famous for its “Passeggiata,” a wonderful seaside promenade, and for the oldest Carnival in Europe, the “Carnevale di Viareggio.”
Elegant and refined, Viareggio is one of the more famous coastal resorts in Versilia and a tourist destination known all over the world. It is a lively town in all seasons, replete with wonderful restaurants, colorful seaside shops and a great market!
The Plaza e de Russie represents the splendor of the Liberty style, offering to guests the sense of experiencing a marvel of nature and art. Built in 1871 on the Gran Tour route, it’s the oldest hotel in Viareggio. Situated on the seaside promenade the hotel is still the hub of a society from the early 1900’s, when Viareggio was an international showcase for the arts and literature.

About the Chef: Chef Paolo, locally born and educated at the prestigious culinary school, Scuola Alberghiere di Marina de Massa, comes with an incredible resume. He was at the internationally known 3 Michelin star Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence for seven years, the 3 star Michelin Alain Ducasse restaurant in the Plaza Athenee in Paris for three years, as well as stints at a number of other fine restaurants. He also worked for two years in the US in Greenwich, Connecticut and speaks French and English along with his native Italian!
