The town of Ravello is a “terrace” overlooking the sea and hills of the Amalfi Coast. It is a unique town where art and culture merge with natural beauty in an extraordinary setting. The renowned Festival of Ravello is held annually in Villa Rufolo and is dedicated to Richard Wagner, who found inspiration there for his last masterpiece, the Parsifal.
Situated in the historic center between the Clarisse nunnery and S. Francis Convent, your four-star hotel is located in a peaceful oasis. The villa used to belong to the family of Marquis de Cinque, a Roman noble. The structure, while preserving the elegant aesthetic of a historical mansion, has undergone noteworthy re-decorations which have brought it to its current-day splendor. In all of the halls, staircases and public areas of the building, it is still possible to admire the antique marble floors and hand-painted Vietrese School majolica tiles. The hotel is equipped with modern technologies and the rooms have been renewed with comforts.
About the Cooking Lessons: After many years as the head chef and owner of a restaurant, Chef Vincenzino decided to run a cooking school from his home, giving him the opportunity to enjoy the company of people who love food, and “eat it with the heart and not just the mouth!” You will start with a visit to the little shops located in the historic alley of Ravello, strolling through the pedestrian road that crosses the village. Along with Vincenzino, who speaks English, you will meet with the owners of the small shops and be shown how the local people choose their fish, special homemade pasta, vegetables, and local wines. Together, you will decide what to buy and cook for your lesson. Then it is on to Vincenzino’s home, gloriously situated on a cliff top 350 meters above sea level. You will proceed with the hands-on preparation of your lunch, from appetizers to dessert, with wine and coffee included.
