As a general comment, when asked about the trip I respond that the week in Sicily was the best vacation week we have had. Like small groups? Like learning? Want to avoid tourist traps? Want to laugh? My trip to Sicily not only met my expectations, it far exceeded them. I was looking forward to a relaxing time in the countryside, not as a tourist, and I was not disappointed. I was greeted by Italians who are warm and friendly and truly excited to welcome me into their home. The meals prepared for us were very delicious, reminding me of meals my mother prepared. We were encouraged to participate in the preparation, if we so chose, giving us an even greater sense of belonging. The cultural aspects of the tour were quite exciting. Sicily has a long history with Greek and Roman influence as evidenced by the ancient ruins and architecture. Our guides were knowledgeable and passionate about the land. Their enthusiasm made for exciting excursions to ancient theaters, living museums, and beautiful Cathedrals. My tour group included family and close friends — we were a small group.
