A Week in the Heart of Bordeaux Wine Country

Wonderful hosts and wonderful location. Pascal is not just a terrific winemaker, but also a terrific person and a joy to be around. I don't think we could have picked a better time of year as the weather was perfect and we were there for the harvest. It couldn't be possible to find a better way to tour Bordeaux wine country. The French sure know how to eat... In the seven or so meals that were prepared for us, three are now my favorite meals ever thanks to Michelle's incredible talents in the kitchen. Wonderful wines and tastings accompanied every meal and we learned a ton with the help of Pascal and Michelle. I'm proud to say that along with Pascal and his workers, we were the first people to have tasted the 2007 Bujan harvest. We'll remember it forever. The trip was very well represented and we knew what to expect, although our hosts were very flexible and allowed us to tailor events to our specific desires. Well done! The week we spent at La Maison des Vignes was truly memorable. Though we have visited the french countryside before, never had we felt so much at home, and so much in touch with the people and the culture of France. From the beginning we felt very comfortable with Pascal and Michele -we could converse easily as they both speak fluent english- . The house we were to call home was lovingly restored and charmingly furnished, with every possible confort. As we came to meet their families and friends, we knew we had entered a very special circle of warmth and hospitality. In addition to this friendly atmosphere, the programme and operations were first class. Michele and Pascal are experts in the areas of food and wine and every meal was a culinary delight of taste and presentation and included many of the regional specialties. And the wine tastings ! with Pascal's careful teaching and sampling the wines at several vineyards, we are able, in just a week, to improve our own taste and discrimination considerably. It has truly opened up a whole new world for us. Libby & Lou
